Friday 2nd February – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington Marina – sunny periods and mild.

Foil – 20.00 knot max, 17.35 knot ave, 9.25 knot hour, 14.70 knot mile, 25.30 km., 14.55 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 5.5m.

After an amazing start to the month yesterday with a lovely walk around the lovely Holywells Park in Ipswich, seeing an otter have a go at a goose I was keen to get out on the water today to make the most of a run of breezy, mild weather:) We were having the Granddaughter, the lovely Maeva this afternoon so I headed over to Levington early arriving at the Marina around ten despite it being low water. There was not much wind when I first arrived so took a few pics to send to the local TV weather and was thinking of heading for home but the breeze from the wsw filled in a littel so I backed my trailer to the launching spot by the marina entrance. Foil board was quickly set up and I nearly rigged 6.5 but it was suddenly gusting over 20 knots so I went for the 5.5. I launched at low water and actually flew out of the marina entrance channel and things were looking good for an ok hour but sadly yjr wind did not play play and went patxchy but not before a run of nice gybes:) The wind swung more west and I had a few good runs down to Felixstowe docks sailing straight into the brilliant sunshine, in fact I was too warm! Sadly the wind dropped and I slowly had to beat back and called it a day, pack-up, shower and head for home to have a lovely afternoon with Maeva:)
As the local papers print very few readers pics any more it is nice to get on the cover of the local Spotlight on Felixstowe Mag and also in the Felixstowe and Suffolk magazine!
